Botox (type A botulinum toxin) is widely known as a substance used to smooth wrinkles but it also has other medicinal usage. Recently, it has been used to treat excessive sweating.
The treatment using BTX is not complicated. It is enough to inject the substance under the skin. It is fundamental, though, to establish the right injection spots; Minora test performed prior to the treatment helps doctors to establish this. Once BTX is injected, it blocks the neural impulses which activate sweat glands. As a result, BTX “temporarily switches off” the glands.
